For estate planning firms

Catch the inquiries your staff misses.
Built to refuse legal advice.

Amfion answers the calls your team cannot take, after hours and on your website, texts and email. It opens every conversation by saying it is an AI and not a lawyer, asks for every name before the story, books consultations from your list once a lawyer at your firm clears those names, and hands urgent matters to a person. Below, a fictional firm shows how.

Start with your own site: paste your firm’s website and meet the intake it would run. The preview is a demonstration: not live, no client data, and not legal advice. Hollis & Park Estate Planning is a fictional firm, and the conversations below are scripted examples of the rules a law firm account runs under, not recordings. Your firm stays responsible for its own professional duties; see what stays with you.

The intake answers ride the booking. The conversation opened with the fixed line that this is an AI and not a lawyer, every name was asked for before the matter, and no time was offered until an attorney at the firm cleared the names.

Three conversations

Three inquiries, three scripted examples.

A couple starting a plan, a daughter calling about her mother in hospice, and a question that asks for advice. Each shows the conversation and the record it left for the firm.

CustomerHi, my wife and I want to get our wills done now that our second baby is here. How does this work?
This is an AI assistant, not a lawyer or a member of the firm's staff. This conversation doesn't create an attorney-client relationship. The firm keeps a record of it, so please don't share confidential details yet.
Before we go further: the firm hasn't agreed to take on your matter yet, so please don't share private details about it. I'll take a few names first so the firm can check for conflicts.
AssistantI can help you book a consultation with the firm. First, what are the full names of everyone involved, and are you already working with a lawyer on this?
CustomerJust the two of us, Chris and Dana Morales. No lawyer yet.
AssistantThank you, Chris. Is there a deadline or a date coming up that the firm should know about? A lawyer at the firm checks the names before I ask anything more, so what’s the best way to reach you, and when?
CustomerNo deadline. chris@example.com or 555-0148, any evening.

AssistantWelcome back, Chris. So the plan is for you and Dana, married, with two children. Do you own your home, and does either of you have an existing will or trust?
CustomerWe own the house. No will or trust. Evenings next week would be ideal.

Names first, a conflict check, then a consultation

The conversation opened with a fixed line: an AI assistant, not a lawyer. Before asking about the plan, the assistant asked for everyone’s names and whether they had a lawyer, asked only about a deadline, took a way to reach them, and asked nothing more until an attorney at the firm cleared the names. When Chris came back, it worked through the estate planning questions in order, recorded both spouses, and booked a consultation from the firm’s own list. It did not guess a fee the firm has not published.

Chat with a fictional demo firmsaltmeadow-estate-planning.amfionhq.com

Saltmeadow Estate Planning is a fictional firm that Amfion runs on the law firm setup; it is not a real law firm. Use made-up details only: no lawyer will respond. Try the disclosures, names before the story, the hold for the firm’s conflict check, and a matter that needs a person. Nobody clears the names there, so it will not book a consultation.

The intake order

Every inquiry follows the same order.

The order is part of the law firm setup, not a setting someone can forget. The answers are saved on the booking, so the attorney opens the consultation knowing who is coming and why.

  1. Say what it is

Every channel opens with it: an AI assistant, not a lawyer, and no attorney-client relationship from the conversation. The exact words are on the right.

  2. Every name, before the story

It asks for the names of everyone involved, including anyone on the other side, and whether the person already has a lawyer, so your team can run its conflict check first. It asks people not to share confidential details yet.

  3. A lawyer at your firm clears the names

Until a lawyer at your firm marks every name cleared in Amfion, the assistant asks only which state and whether there is a deadline, then takes a way to reach the person. It cannot book a consultation before then: the booking itself checks.

  4. The estate planning questions, in turn

Who the plan is for, marital status and the spouse’s name, children, home ownership, any existing will or trust, what prompted the call, and timing. A couple planning together gets both names recorded.

  5. A consultation from your list

It offers only the consultations you list, described as you describe them, and quotes only fees you publish. Anything urgent stops here and goes to a person instead.

Booked vs handed to a person

Consultations book once the names are cleared. Urgent matters reach a person.

When the intake answers name one of the urgent cases, the system refuses the booking itself; it is not left to the assistant’s judgment. The assistant flags the conversation with a one-line summary and takes a name and a phone number or email.

Compatibility

Can we keep our practice software?

Yes, as your system of record. Here is exactly what Amfion books into, reads from, and leaves alone.

Amfion’s own scheduler

No external account needed. Services, staff, hours and capacity live in Amfion; every booking gets a customer manage link.

Books into it
Cal.com

Connect your account and Amfion reads its availability and writes bookings there. Cal.com syncs with Google, Outlook and Apple calendars.

Books into it
Google Calendar

Amfion blocks booking around your busy events and copies its own bookings into your calendar. It does not read appointments from other software.

Reads busy, mirrors out
Your phone number

Forward the calls you miss to your Amfion number with your carrier’s dial code, or port the number in later. Nothing changes for callers.

Keep it

Where the consultation lives

On Amfion’s scheduler or in Cal.com, with the intake answers attached. You see every conversation in your Inbox, with the transcript, and a copy of each booking in Google Calendar if you connect it.

Where your number lives

With you. Your staff keeps answering first: forward busy, unanswered and after-hours calls to your Amfion number, and callers still dial the number on your letterhead. Read more on the phone channel page.

Pricing for law firms

Priced per handled inquiry, month to month.

Both plans run the law firm setup on this page, on web chat, phone, text and email. A handled inquiry is one person our assistant responded to, on any channel, counted once in any 30 days. Spam, tests, calls under 15 seconds and conversations where nobody spoke are free.

Arithmetic on your own numbers, not a prediction or a promise. Answering an inquiry does not make it a client, and Amfion has not measured how many unanswered inquiries become clients once they are answered. The plans count handled inquiries only: the price never depends on whether an inquiry becomes a client, or on any fee. A handled inquiry is one person our assistant responded to, on any channel, counted once in any 30 days. Spam, tests, calls under 15 seconds and conversations where nobody spoke are free.

Open the intake worksheet

Getting started

Start with a preview of your own firm.

  1. Paste your firm’s website

The preview reads your public site, recognizes a law firm (estate planning gets its own intake questions) and applies the law firm setup: the disclosures, the intake order and the urgent cases on this page.

  2. Talk to it like a prospective client

Ask it for advice, call about a parent in hospice, ask what a trust costs. The preview lists each urgent case as a rule you can see, next to the consultations and hours it found on your site; correct anything it got wrong. Every screen says it is not live, holds no client data and is not legal advice.

  3. Keep it as your firm’s account

Create your account from the preview. Law firm accounts are activated together with the Amfion team, so no real inquiry reaches the assistant before then. Choose Self-serve or Managed when you are ready.

  4. Finish a short go-live checklist

Before real inquiries arrive, a short checklist in your dashboard covers what has to be right first: confirming that the phone number and email address the assistant answers are labeled as an AI assistant wherever your firm publishes them, your hours and consultations, and putting the assistant on your website. Mark which members of your team are lawyers too: only they can clear names.

Questions

Law firms ask us these.

Does it give legal advice?

It is built not to. Its rules forbid predicting outcomes, interpreting documents or laws, and telling anyone which service, document or strategy they need. The most it does is describe the consultations your firm lists and offer one. A set of required test conversations, including a request for advice, has to pass before any change to its instructions goes live. Like any AI it can still make mistakes, so your team should review its conversations in the Inbox.

What does it cost?

Two plans, month-to-month, on every channel. Self-serve is $249 a month with 75 handled inquiries included. Managed is $499 a month with 200 included, plus onboarding with the Amfion team and a weekly review of your firm’s conversations. Each handled inquiry beyond the allowance is $2. A handled inquiry is one person our assistant responded to, on any channel, counted once in any 30 days. Spam, tests, calls under 15 seconds and conversations where nobody spoke are free. The price counts handled inquiries only: it never depends on whether an inquiry becomes a client, on a fee, or on any other outcome.

Is this an answering service?

It does the answering-service job for the calls and messages your staff misses, including after hours, but it is an AI assistant, not a staffed service, and it says so. It answers from what your firm has taught it, takes every name before the story, books the consultations you list once a lawyer at your firm has cleared the names, and hands anything urgent, or anything it should not handle, to your team with a one-line summary. Amfion does not employ receptionists or lawyers.

What does it tell people about itself?

That it is an AI assistant and not a lawyer, in its first reply on every channel. The chat window carries a fixed notice, the first text or email reply carries the same words, and every call opens with a fixed recorded notice, played before the assistant joins, that it is an AI assistant, not a lawyer or a firm employee, that the call does not create an attorney-client relationship, and that it is transcribed by the firm’s service provider. On a law firm account these lines cannot be switched off.

Can it run our conflict check?

It collects what your check needs, not the check itself. Before asking about the matter, it asks for the names of everyone involved, including anyone on the other side, and whether the person already has a lawyer. Checking those names against your records stays with your team; Amfion does not search your client list. Until a lawyer at your firm marks every name cleared, the assistant asks nothing about the matter beyond the state and any deadline, and it cannot book a consultation.

What happens with an urgent matter?

It is never booked. A hospital, hospice or deathbed request, a recent death, a Medicaid or nursing-home crisis, a deadline or court date within days, and a dispute or pending lawsuit all go to a person: the assistant flags the conversation with a one-line summary and takes a name and a phone number or email. When the intake answers name one of these cases, the system refuses the booking itself. It never promises when someone will call, and anyone in danger is told to call 911.

What if someone contacts us about a parent’s plan?

The assistant explains that the firm needs to speak with that person directly and takes a message; it never books an appointment for another adult. For a couple planning together, it records both spouses’ names.

Which AI models read our inquiries?

Law firm accounts default to DeepSeek through OpenRouter on listed US-based hosts. The firm explicitly acknowledges this at go-live and may instead choose US models from Anthropic and OpenAI. These hosts do not provide a US-only processing commitment. OpenAI handles live calls and Anthropic checks replies under either setting. The AI models card in Settings shows the current choice and provider terms.

We practice more than estate planning. Does it still work?

Yes, for consult-driven practices. The general law firm setup asks what the matter is about in a sentence or two and whether there is a deadline or court date, with the same disclosures, the same names-first order and the same urgent routing. Estate planning is simply the practice with the deepest intake today.

Does it connect to Clio or our practice management software?

Not today. You keep your practice software as your system of record. Amfion books consultations on its own scheduler or in Cal.com, blocks booking around your Google Calendar busy times and copies bookings there, and keeps the intake answers on each booking. Connectors are built with early partners on request.

Is the preview live?

No. A preview is built from your public website and says so on every screen: it is not live, holds no client data and is not legal advice. No client is contacted: it books on a sample calendar, and the only email it sends is a booking confirmation to the address you type.

Who is responsible for what the assistant says?

Your firm. Amfion is software, not a law firm, and it does not practice law. It follows the rules on this page, and your firm stays responsible for its own professional duties, including its intake and advertising rules, conflicts, confidentiality, and reviewing what the assistant says in the firm’s name.
