Questions
What electricians ask first.
Straight answers, including what it doesn’t do.
A note from the founder
I built this for the shop where the owner is also the one on the ladder.
When the phone rings mid-job, you choose between the customer in front of you and the one on the line. Amfion picks up, books the jobs you’d book yourself, and steps aside when only you should handle it.
It won’t fit every shop. If it doesn’t fit yours, tell me why. Write to me directly; it comes to my inbox, not a ticket queue.
Is this a person or an AI?
An AI answering service. It answers calls, texts, WhatsApp, email and website chat from your services, prices and rules, day or night, and books the routine jobs. Every call opens with a short notice that the call is transcribed and processed by service providers, and it says it’s an AI assistant whenever a caller asks. When a person is needed, it transfers the call to your team when you’ve set up transfers, or takes an urgent message.
Does the free trial answer my phone?
No. The 14-day free trial (no card) runs the assistant on your website chat, your booking page and email. Phone answering, texting and WhatsApp start on Front Desk ($249 a month), which comes with your local number and 200 answered-call minutes. To hear the phone before you decide, call the Cedar Row demo line at (754) 351-4706 (it answers for a plumbing and air business, with the same rules).
What happens when a caller says an outlet is sparking?
If there’s smoke or flame, it tells them to get out and call 911. Otherwise it tells them to keep everyone away from it. Then it goes to a person: with transfers set up, it rings your team, up to three people in turn so your on-call electrician can be first; if nobody answers, it takes an urgent message with name, callback number and address. It is never booked as an ordinary appointment.
Will it quote a panel upgrade or an EV charger?
No. It quotes only prices you publish, like your $95 service call, and says the electrician confirms the price on site. It never diagnoses. Panel upgrades, EV charger installs and rewiring become a callback request.
Can I hear it on the phone?
Yes. Call the Cedar Row demo line at (754) 351-4706. It answers for a fictional plumbing and air business, with the same emergency rules your shop gets, sparking and burning smells included. Nobody is on call on the demo line, so emergencies end in an urgent message.
Can I keep my number and my software?
Yes. Forward the calls you miss (busy, no answer, after hours) to your Amfion number; callers keep dialing the number on your truck. Bookings go on Amfion’s own scheduler or Cal.com and around your Google Calendar. Keep your field-service software as your system of record; Amfion does not write into it today. Connectors are built with early partners on request: write to jesse@amfionhq.com.
What does the preview do with my website?
It reads the public pages of the site you paste and builds a front desk from them in about a minute. No account, no card. It books on a sample calendar and contacts no customer. The preview is chat only. Keep it and it becomes your 14-day free trial on your website chat and email; phone answering starts on Front Desk. A preview nobody keeps is deleted after seven days without use.
