Appointment reminders, and where SMS stands
Amfion sends appointment reminders and lifecycle messages over email today, and answers phone calls through its phone channel. Twilio SMS is not available yet. This page says exactly what ships now so you can decide without a sales call.
Texting with the assistant: live — SMS and WhatsApp
Customers can message your Amfion number over SMS or WhatsApp and the same assistant answers — your services, prices, hours and policies, live availability, and real bookings, right in the thread. Conversations land in your Inbox next to calls and chats, with human takeover when you want it. US numbers require carrier registration for SMS (10DLC) and a Meta-approved WhatsApp sender — we handle both with you during onboarding.
Scheduled SMS reminders: not available
Automated reminder and lifecycle texts are not available — those messages go by email today. If scheduled SMS reminders are a hard requirement, treat them as unavailable when you evaluate us — not as something arriving shortly.
If you need SMS or WhatsApp reminders today, Cal.com’s Teams plan supports messaging workflows and runs alongside Amfion. That is a genuine option we would rather point you to than have you discover the gap after signing up.
What actually ships today: the email lifecycle engine
Reminders run through a queue-backed worker with a per-send uniqueness key, so a scheduling retry cannot produce a duplicate email. Marketing-class messages honor suppressions and always carry an unsubscribe link.
- Booking reminders
- Scheduled reminder emails ahead of an appointment, de-duplicated so a customer can never be emailed twice for the same booking. Off by default, because Cal.com may already be emailing your attendees.
- Waitlist backfill
- When a booking is cancelled, the freed slot is offered to waitlisted customers automatically — triggered by the cancellation webhook, not a nightly batch.
- Rebooking nudges
- Customers who are due to return get a nudge to book again. Honors per-customer suppressions and carries an unsubscribe link.
- Review requests
- A post-appointment request for a review, on the same suppression and unsubscribe rules.
Who sends the booking confirmation?
For services running on Cal.com, Cal.com sends the confirmation directly — Amfion does not duplicate it. That is why booking reminders default to off: turning them on without checking your Cal.com workflow settings is the fastest way to email a customer twice.
